It has, and always will be my goal to provide my customers with the best service possible. Over time, many have stated how pleased they were, with the advice, services, and the final product provided. Michael did a wonderful job building a drawer, converted an existing cabinet to a display bookcase with lighting, and an ovenhood with a tiled backsplash. Michael was very flexible throughout the whole project taking our ideas and creating exactly what we were asking for. He is definitely someone that we will be recommending to our friends and family.

We hired Mike to build a deck and to replace side stairs damaged during a storm, and he did a fantastic job. He offered detailed estimates and offered great suggestions for making the project work for us. Once the work was underway, we could see that Mike is very detail oriented and his work is truly top-notch. He offered great communication throughout the project, was always punctual and thoroughly cleaned up after each day of work. We couldn't be more pleased with how the deck turned out - it's now one of our favorite spaces! We will not hesitate to hire Mike for future projects, and strongly recommend him.

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with Mike Gervais of CrossWorks Carpentry in the design and installation of 4- Faux beams for a sloped ceiling, install a wood ceiling, and reconfigure and finish several wall planes in order to redirect traffic flow. Mike Gervais's knowledge and attention to detail is exceptional. His carpentry skills and the quality of his craftsmanship is unquestionably of high quality.  In working with Mike on this project, it's apparent that he holds himself to a very high professional standard. He has the innate ability to listen to a client, grasp what they are attempting to communicate, and then execute it flawlessly.  I found his work ethics to be impeccable. He was punctual, self accountable, and maintained detailed records. The project was on time and within budget.  I would be honored to collaborate with him in future projects.  I would, without hesitation, recommend Mike Gervais of CrossWorks Carpentry to anyone within range of his serves area.

We would not hesitate to use Mike again for our future projects.

Mike came out to bid the project. He listened to what I wanted and made suggestions that worked out very well, really made the porch look like it was done when the house was built, you'd never know it was done later. Mike always gave us his schedule and when he would arrive and leave, he always cleaned up nightly and made sure the site was clean, he rarely stopped working, even ate lunch fast! He measured twice and cut once and had to of course adjust for things that weren't square. The windows fit perfectly, and new door is wonderful (I picked out another one, he talked me into this one with a disappearing screen and I love it, so glad I listened to him!). He finished the job on time and was just a little over the quote, but he had to do a lot of leveling out and finish work due to uneven lines in the original porch. He made it right and my neighbors are jealous! I do plan on having Mike put in built-in bookshelves in my living room next year. Mike was recommended to me by a neighbor and I have since recommended him to other neighbors, and a co-worker, I think he's gotten every job. A true craftsman, he knows his stuff!

I reached out to Mike after reading the many positive reviews here on Angie’s List. I’m glad I did. He’s a great find. Mike built a wall along one side of our underdeck for purposes of creating an entertainment area. It turned out great! The job presented several challenges (installing the wall between existing columns, limited space to install the wall and water leaking from the deck above) all of which Mike resolved. Mike is successful for several reasons. First, he does all the work himself. You can’t underestimate the importance of this. Over the years, the highest quality of work we have received on our home is when it is performed by the owner of the company. Second, Mike genuinely enjoys what he does, takes great pride in his work and wants you to be happy with the end result. Again, you can’t underestimate the importance of this. Lastly, his experience, knowledge, willingness to listen and all around “good guy” qualities result in quality work.

Mike and his brother Gary were very prompt and professional. They even let me help them tear down the old deck. The new deck looks good and is very sturdy. My wife and I are very happy with our new deck. We have told several people about their work and highly recommend them to other people that we know.

Mike showed up when he said he would, and put in a full days work each day. He was reliable, professional and very personable. We added a few additional work items to the project and he proved to be very flexible and able to accommodate us with ease. We appreciate his attention to detail and his desire to make sure the customer is satisfied upon completion of the job. We would definitely hire Mike again and plan to hire him next year for the second phase of our upstairs floor project.

Description of work:

We have used Mike before to renovate our kitchen. We were so happy with his work that we decided to hire him again to renovate our stairs. This was part one of a bigger project to renovate the entire second floor, and we wanted to start with our creaky stairs.

Very happy with finished projects!

Description of work:

I had several specialty carpentry projects to be done, including installing ship lap on a feature wall. Mike orders, picks up, and brings materials to project. Things go great from set up to clean up, and work is plumb, square, caulked and nicely finished. Price is a little above average, but so is the work.

 – Richard Trinkwalder [Angie's List Review]

Fantastic, while looking for a GC for a basement, I found Mike with Crossworks. He provided sound advice and guidance through the process to where I hired all the subs and let Mike take care of the carpentry. Even his general carpentry work building walls and other build outs looked like finished work with tight joints. Mike took a lot of pride in his work, and our finished basement shows. I would recommend Mike for any carpentry job.

Wow, Mike is spectacular. He replaced the decking with Trex (I'll never have to paint it again) and the

about my home. Wonderful craftsmanship and service, excellent in all aspects!

We were remodeling our kitchen and needed a professional who could turn our vision into reality. Mike is an excellent carpenter who did just that! He turned low cost stock cabinets into a beautiful custom looking kitchen, converted a small half bath into a custom pantry and laid new hardwood flooring, Mike is a top notch professional who listens to what his customers want. I have dealt with many workmen who tell me why something cannot be done, but not Mike - he will find a way to make it happen. Mike is also blessed with an abundance of patience- perfect for the homeowner who is overwhelmed with the many choices remodeling entails. We will absolutely use him again!

11 – Angie's List Review

Working with Mike was great. I recently had a contractor bolt half way through finishing the basement and remodeling the kitchen. My trust of contractors is not very high. Mike is an exceptional craftsman, and it definitely shows in his work. He always showed up on time, gave good advice, was very easy to talk to, and has very high integrity.  You definitely get what you pay for and the quality of his work and attention to detail is incredible.  The contractor who bolted left a ton of debris in my backyard and even Mike offered to leave his trailer so I could fill it up and then took it to the dump for me.  Mike is also a very hard worker.  He doesn't lollygag around, while he was at our house he was always working.  I would definitely hire Mike again and will be sure to recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

October 2015 Angie's List Review

Mike repaired damage to laundry room due to water infiltration. He removed rotted flooring, sub-floor, floor joists, exterior siding, damaged wall framing, and insulation. Installed new pressure treated lumber, sub-floor, insulation, and drywall in all affected areas. Installed flashing on exterior wall and caulked the areas where water had previously infiltrated. He worked with other contractors (i.e. plumber and termite control co.) to coordinate his work and their work to complete the job in a timely and efficient manner.

Mike did an outstanding job. He is very knowledgeable and highly skilled. He showed up as scheduled, he prepared a contract listing everything that would be done and the price. He thoroughly explained what needed to be done to repair the damage and to prevent it in the future. He was punctual, efficient, and very professional. We had to coordinate with other contractors and he was very accommodating. The cost was very close to his original estimate. This is a rental property and the work had to be coordinated with tenants as well. Mike took care to keep them informed of when he would be there and to answer their questions. He was great to work with and I will definitely use him again in the future.

 Angie's List Review

I hired Mike on the spot due to his price and his overall demeanor.
Mike stayed in contact with me throughout the project and arrived and left at the times he said he would.  He cleaned up everyday and provided me progress reports throughout the job.  The job ran a little bit over the $1k quote, but as with all rot repair, you see more rot once you get up on the ladder than was in the original quote.  Mike was very up front about the cost overruns and offered suggestions to avoid as much expense as possible.  I admit I dont know much about carpentry, but all the repairs look to be correct and my window is no longer leaking.  He used all rot resistant materials in his repairs.
Mike is a VERY honest individual and I would not hesitate to hire him again.  Once you see the graphic on his business cards or website and his slogan, you will fully understand why his business is named Crossworks and you will understand the man behind it all.

Mike has performed two sizeable jobs for me and a number of medium to smaller jobs. I've been very happy with his work. Mike is easy to work with and very cooperative. He is kind and is at all times professional. He runs a neat and organized jobsite which I think is important and has been proven to be a much safer work environment. Most important to me is Mike's character as he has proven to be honest and trustworthy. I can recommend Mike without any hesitation and hope you have the privilege of working with him.

Mike:  We want to thank you for doing such a wonderful job on our recent repairs.  Since the harsh winter brought us water damage to the skylight, wall, and floor of our family room, we were thrilled that you could do the repairs for us.  As when you originally  built the room for us, your attention to detail, timeliness, concern for our comfort throughout the process, and impeccable workmanship made the whole process much easier to deal with.  We have never done business with a contractor that was as professional as you are, as skilled, and as considerate of the customer with keeping to schedules and updates as you are.  We have always been able to count on you for all of our projects, both large and small, and you will be sorely missed!

We asked Mike to help us make some long-desired changes and repairs. He listened to what we wanted and made careful suggestions that gave us a result exceeding our expectations. We had some surprises, which Mike handled smoothly, and if I changed my mind about something, which I did on a few occasions, he agreeably shifted gears. More than once my family commented on Mike's crew -- Ben, Jesse, Robert, and Mark and their helpers -- what a nice group of guys to have in our home, and their work is great too! We felt we got a great result at a fair price. As new projects come up I will be returning to Mike in the future.

Mike did an outstanding job with my recent bathroom remodel project.  I was especially impressed with his attention to detail and high level of customer service.  As he encountered issues with the work- he was able to discuss options with me & bring in other professionals as required.  Even with the issues encountered- he met my aggressive time-line and still finished the work under budget!  I am absolutely thrilled with the result and intend to use Mike and his recommended subcontractors Jesse (drywall) and Mark (plumbing) for all of my future projects.  Thanks again!

Mike completed an addition to our house recently and we are extremely pleased with the results.  His timeliness, attention to detail, concern for our comfort level throughout the project, and excellent workmanship resulted in a beautiful room and deck that we couldn't be happier with.  Mike provided us with a schedule of construction and stuck to it almost to the minute.  If something came up to throw it off, he let us know ahead of time and found ways to work around the delays.  It was a real pleasure to work with such an honest, conscientious, and affable person.  He showed concern every step of the way for what would be best for us and the project; and did a wonderful job of making the new construction fit well with the existing house.  We have great respect for Mike  and highly recommend him.

"I've been thinking about some projects in my house for quite a while, but I wasn't sure who I could get to do it. I finally asked around for some recommendations and got the names of a few people, and after meeting everyone, I decided to go with Mike and Crossworks Carpentry. I'm so glad I did! Mike and those who worked with him were professional, courteous, and attentive to detail, doing everything they could to meet my needs and expectations, and doing so at a very reasonable price. This included accommodating me changing my mind partway through about how I wanted to handle a bathroom fan, and making sure that I was informed about the progress every step of the way. I also appreciated the flexibility of contact by phone or e-mail, since I'm sometimes on the phone a lot for work and e-mail is often a better way to reach me. And even though I was away while most of the work was being done, I felt perfectly comfortable letting them proceed, and it was wonderful to come home to a new floor and a new interior door! I wish I had done it sooner, but I'm glad that I finally did, and that I went with Crossworks Carpentry. I couldn't have asked for anyone better."

Last spring I was thinking about replacing 14 single pane windows in my home with an energy efficient model. I figured I could replace one window a weekend, because the windows would have to be removed, the frame altered and the new window installed and trimmed. I envisioned 14 summer weekends tied up doing this and my enthusiasm waned.

As luck would have it, I was talking with a neighbor who was having a large project done at her home and part of the project was window replacement. She recommended her contractor, Mike Gervais, citing his integrity, attention to detail and cost consciousness.

I called Mike and scheduled a time to discuss our project. Mike asked many questions, offered several good suggestions and left to work up a proposal. Long story short, Mike completed the project on time for $200 less than agreed upon. The work was extremely well done with little disruption to the house. His work was cleaned up at the end of each session,

I will certainly use Mike for any up-coming project that I have and recommend that you give him a chance as well.

Dear Mike,

We wanted to write you a quick note to thank you for your outstanding work.  When we took on our restoration project we had no idea the difficulties that we would encounter.  After being raked through the coals by a contractor who did poor quality work, charged for work that was not done and continuously missed deadlines, we were referred to you and instantly the project started to take shape.

Your work was of outstanding quality.  It was ALWAYS done in a timely fashion and we found you to operate with the highest ethical standards.  Needless to say, we wish that we had found you earlier and assure you will always be our first call when we are in need of any carpentry or construction services.

Thanks for everything.

I am an out of state landlord and I can’t tell you how happy I’ve been with Mike’s dedication and follow through.  I recently had a water leak that required repairs to the toilet, bathroom wall and floor, living room ceiling and lighting.  Mike did most of the work himself and what required a specialist he arranged to have the work done.  It was an emergency situation and he responded as such.

He is honest and fair and is a perfectionist when it comes to the final product.  I would highly recommend him and plan on using him often in the future.

"Recently, we purchased a house in Yarmouth.  It is
our first house.  There were many things about the
house we loved, however with the second floor
unfinished it was difficult to enjoy completely.  When
we found Mike, we knew that he was someone that could
help give us more living space and make our house
something that we would love even more.  We explained
to Mike what we envisioned.  He not only assisted us,
but gave us new ideas.  He was very creative in
thinking of ways for us to best utilize and enjoy our
space.  Mike was not only personable and creative, but
he also finished in the time he originally quoted.  We
went into this project knowing that things cannot
always follow a timeline, but Mike was very diligent
in making it happen.  We want to thank him for all he
has done for us.  He made our first house our
home."

Mike did a great job and we are really so pleased with his work. He
helped plan the job, and met with us a number of times before the work
began to do planning and address all of our questions and concerns.
Throughout the work Mike gave great and useful advice. The end result
looks beautiful.

We also appreciated the fact that the job was completed on time and on
budget, and that Mike was reliable in always showing up when he said he
would and making himself available all the time.

Since the job was completed several neighbors have stopped as they pass
the house to tell us how great it looks.  My family came to visit from
out of state and could not stop praising our
"new" house.

Thank you so much Mike!

“We have a rental home that had several doors damaged by tenants and hanging doors is not our forte.  We were given Mike’s name through a friend and we were so happy to have found his company.   Mike promptly assessed the situation and put together a detailed proposal for us that itemized the cost and scope of work.  Mike turned the job around very quickly so we didn’t have any downtime in renting the unit.  We are EXTREMELY happy with the final results of the new doors!   I will definitely use CrossWorks Carpentry again and I have already recommended Mike Gervais to friends in need of an honest and skilled carpenter.”

As a seasonal cottage owner it is very challenging to get jobs done
during short stays, and harder yet to find a carpenter who has the time
available to give bids and to do the repairs during these stays.  Mike
was very responsive to our need to get repairs done before the renters
arrived. He was very thorough and timely with his work and the contract
he prepared was clear and complete.  I have recommended Mike to other
homeowners and will definitely call him again.

CrossWorks quote was more than 10% higher than the lowest bidder, but we ended up choosing CrossWorks anyway. Mike put a lot of thought into our quote and anticipated many of the issues that the other contractors hadn't addressed. His quote also included low maintenance trim that adds to the finished look of the deck. Mike has been working steadily, as the weather permits, and has been making good progress. We've been very happy with the quality of work and will be recommending CrossWorks to our family and friends.

Thank you

In mid-2005 Maggie and I decided to build a kitchen / family room addition to our home in Portland.  We requested several bids from local contractors.  From this we had the opportunity to meet Mike and Craig. From the very start it was clear that they were both capable and professional.  They promptly delivered a well thought out bid that was competitively priced.  The project was sizeable, and had some interesting complexities.  Throughout the project they stuck to their word – and delivered a new structure (added to our existing 50 year old house), that was completed on time and at a quality / detail level that was above our expectations.  Several times during the project we had changes that were the product of Maggie and I seeing a “new possibility”.  In every instance, we presented the idea and were able to work with Mike and Craig to incorporate the resulting changes in design, project scope and timeframe – with Mike and Craig always open and adding insight into the new concept.  Today we have an addition to our home that we are quite proud of.  We give our strongest recommendation to the individuals.  They are highly capable, professional, and honest – people we consider to be good friends – quite a statement at the end of a construction project.

Please contact us if you’d like to discuss our experience of working with Mike & Craig.

As out-of-state owners, reliability was very important to us.  Mike and
Craig were available and kept us completely informed during the last two
winters as they renovated our Peaks Island cottage.  The renovations required
tremendous, innovative problem solving - with odd angles, assorted woods and
uniquely shaped windows.  Their craftsmanship brought a continuity and style
to our cottage.  The "house that Jack built"  has been transformed into a
lovely home and we are most thankful.

Last year (2004) Mike and Craig did extensive work on our house.
Remodeling our dining room and attic were two of the bigger projects
that they did.  Mike provided valuable design assistance on both.  His
suggestions were excellent! They allowed us to increase the size of
our son's new attic bedroom and to remodel our dining room in a way
that is consistent with our home's Victorian design.

Both men were very easy to work with.  Our projects took months,
included other contractors  and involved several design changes.
Throughout the process Mike and Craig were available to discuss any
issues that we had and they showed a lot of flexibility in coordinating
their efforts with the other contractors.

We are currently enjoying the products of their hard work.  Our
unfinished attic went from dark and crowded to being a bright and
usable space.  We appreciate their competence and professionalism!

Sincerely

Robert & Cynthia
